CROWNED STICK INSECT
$20.00
Crowned stick Insects are a type of Phasmid which make incredible pets for first time pet owners. Especially for the bug fanatic children!
Crowned stick insects mimic the look of a twig, being very slender in shape.
Having only a short lifespan, you are able to watch these guys grow up, reproduce and restart the lifecycle. Females can live up to 12-18 months of age and will mature to a length of approximately 10-20cm. Males do not live as long as your females, with their life span ranging from 6-10 months and mature to a smaller length of 8-12cm.
Both male and females do have small wings, although only your males can fly short distances.
Phasmids are a low maintenance pet, although they do require fresh eucalyptus branches with healthy leaves every couple of days to eat. They prefer warm, damp environments so daily sprays from a mister bottles would be beneficial for them and gives them something to drink!
Fun fact, 1 female crowned stick insect can and will fertilise her own eggs cloning her self, therefore all babies produced by a lone female will hatch to be female! if you have a male and female pair, the male will fertilise the eggs and you will have a mix of male and females!
